When Jess’s dad stops by unannounced, Nick must spend some alone time with him; Jess gets an employment opportunity that interferes with Cece’s wedding; Schmidt struggles to take his relationship public; Winston mentally prepares for his birthday.

Jess and Nick attempt to break out of relationship limbo by going on a date. But when Schmidt and Winston catch wind of their plans, they try to sabotage the romantic outing.

Jess admits how she feels about Nick, but soon after coming clean, she learns that he may have been hiding something. Elsewhere, Schmidt becomes preoccupied with buying a fish; and Nick tries to impress his boss by planning a promotion at the bar.

A battle ensues after Schmidt finds a new and highly coveted parking spot; Winston has a difficult time finding a condom when he gets an impromptu invite from Daisy.
